Opportunities are one aspect of life that will always be available, no amtter what your situation is. The only thing that changes, is the quality of the opportunities that are presented to you. For a high percentage of people, life and their respective pursuits clouds their ability to see the opportunities that are in front of them RIGHT NOW!
One of the key's to taking advantage of these opportunities is to be prepared to be your best on any given day, as you will never know when these opportunities are presented to you. The only thing you can do is to focus on processes that will improve the quality of your game everyday, blocking out all the external factors such as pressure to perform, results or the many other external factors that have a negative impact on your performance.
One of the biggest aspects of our being that gets in the way of our performance durinng these periods of opportunities is our belief system.
What if one of your opportunities was present to you in the next 3-5 days, would you be ready to take advantage of it?
Do you believe that we are capable of success RIGHT NOW?
Do you believe that you deserve success RIGHT NOW?
These answers play a massive part in whether you stay out of your own way and take advantage of these opportunities or whether you get in your own way and self sabotage your ability to succeed during these opportunistic periods.
A golfer I have been working with for the past 7 years, Bryden Macpherson has spent the past 3-4 months really focusing on building some empowering behaviours, patterns and routines so that if an opportunity presented itself, he would be ready to perform at or near his best.
Luckily for Bryden his opportunity came in the biggest amateur golf tournament in the world, the British Amateur. Now I wouldnt have said a few months earlier, that if Bryden was presented with an opportunity this large that he would have been prepared to take advantage of it, but the great thing is that it doesnt take too long for you to create new behaviours that will take over in an empowering way, and this is exactly ewhat Bryden did in the month before the British Amateur.
Bryden was focused on the aspects of the game he had control over, like having fun and enjoying the challenge he faced with ecvery shot. Not being scared of the challenge, but really looking forward to seeing what quality of shot he could hit in the situation, RIGHT NOW!
This would be an extremely powerful mindset and Bryden found himself in the final of the British Amateur and a spot in the British Open and US Masters. This mindset we feel was the defining factor in him being able to play quality golf and come away with a win. A win that was created months before in his ability to prepare properly to be able to just play great no matter what situation arose, and he now has an amazing 12 month period as the reigning British Amateur Champion to remind him of the power of a high quality process that prepare's him to be at his best when any opportunity arise's.
I wonder if you are fully preapred to take advantage of the many opportunities that float up in your life, if not, today is the day you can start preapring to be at your best, next time your opportunities are presented to you.
What are you waiting for??
Bryden kissing the British Amateur Trophy!!
Dare2Dream but more importantly, Dare2Prepare!!
