Married to a Poker Player!!

Most people think that Jackstar and my situation, with her being a Full-Time poker player and myself being a Mental Game Coach specialising in poker, is a match made in heaven, but we can both agree that at times it couldnt be more complicated.
Seeing the effort and passion that she puts into the game, and with her competitive spirit, can be a recipe for disaster in the game of poker.
As all poker players know, you just cant make sense of the game at times and it's during these times it would be great to have a Mental Game coach for a husband or partner- YOU THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Knowing when to wear the hat of Husband or Coach is always a difficult chocie to make, as I am attached emotionally to her process and results and this can cloud my ability to sense the occasion for specifcally which role is needed.
As most of my clients know, I am a pretty hard task master when it comes to them focusing on the specific processes we have built and knowing Jackstar's talent, passion and intelligence, I no doubt at times expect a lot from her.
Obviously, being a woman, Jackstar is an emotional creature, which in every other aspect of her life has been an amazing trait, but in poker, it is a component of her personality that at times, I need to learn to be able to deal with better. As it is this passion, that makes her so good and in the future, we hope it makes her one of the best players in the world, so if I ask her to eliminate that passion to help her deal with the variance, I am sure we will kill a part of her that will help her become GREAT!!
My life as a Mental Game coach for my athletes/poker players has been a career I feel extremely blessed to have, working with players that have as much passion for their career's, as I do for mine.
The difficult aspect with our situation is that I get to see the before, during and after aspects of being a full-time poker player, which could be one of the most emotionally unstable professions around.
I do know this, being married to a poker player with the level of passion and want to WIN that Jackstar has, certainly pushes me to be a better Mental Game coach as I see the rawness of what Poker, or pursuing any other sport as a career, can do to you on a daily basis, both On and Off the felt and this pushes me to create new techniques and strategies to better deal with the ups and downs of the game.
The biggest challenge is that we are both so passionate about our professions that we can get caught up in what we are trying to achieve, that instability can be created in a heart beat, and this is the first step of things crashing to the ground.
In 2011 I am determined and focused on being a successful Mental Game Coach to my wife, as well as being able to be the Best Husband I can be, and by doing that, I am sure that we will both achieve our goals for 2011, and be best the husband and wife team on the planet!!
The secret to success in regards to looking at what you need to focus on to become better, is to detach emotionally from what you are doing or your situation, to better help you take an honest look at what has been happening, with no excuses.
Excuses are the root of all evil, and more so when it comes to being a Golfer/Poker player as there are thousands of acceptable excuses you can come up with to help you sleep at night.
When you finally detach emotion from your situation and see things for how they REALLY are, it is amazing with what level of clarity you begin to see how you are performing from a process perspective, which is the only component to focus on if you want to achieve long success, both In and Out of the game!!

So here's to all of you, AND I, that are going to focus on the specific processes each day, that are going to help us become the best we can be, whether that's a poker player, golfer, mental game coach or partner!!

The 3 P's of 2011-
Process! Build specific processes to help you become the best.
Practise! Put these into practise everyday without any excuses.
Performance! Enjoy the improved level of your performance-Everyday.

Enjoy!!
