Consistency,Commitment & Communication-Do YOU Have It?

Over the past 10 years being a Mental Game Coach, I can confidently say that Consistency, Commitment  & Communication are 3 of the most important values to focus on as an athlete. It seems obvious that these 3 words are part of successful people's process, but for a large number of people, they unconsciously dont do these too well at all.
For example, if I was to explain what I mean by Consistency. Consistency to me means creating an empowering practise plan on all the areas of your sport or life for that matter. That might consist of technical, physical, mental and nutritional. Consistency in these areas is building a high quality, focused plan for these four areas with your team, then having the focus and will power to work that plan EVERYDAY!
Commitment to me means staying committed to your plan and your team! Your Team are the people that are part of your support network, your coaches, trainers and anyone else you perceive will help you become your absolute best! Again, makes sense to be committed to your team, but for a lot of athlete's, there is a personality trait within us that at times makes it difficult to achieve this. The term "Rabbit Ears" is a common one for a lot of athlete's where by they are always looking for the secret, or quick fix and in turn unconsciously can be looking outside of their team for answers. As I am sure you are aware, this will not breed either commitment or consistency in your journey to success.
Then we come to Communication. I feel that this is the most important aspect of the 3, as if you can create and achieve great quality communication amongst your team, then that will help eliminate the other 2 from ever being an issue. How often would you communicate with your team, whether it was in person, by phone or via email?
The journey to success and your dreams is never going to be easy, communicating with your team atleast once a week is going to make that journey so much easier, and I mean your whole team. Sending your team an email update of your progress, any questions you may have and just letting them in with what you are feeling, will help them understand what you are currently feeling and experiencing, which will then help them tailor a specific plan of attack for you to focus on.
I want you to take 5mins and think about these 3 C's. How Consistant, Committed and Communicative are you in the journey to Success? Can you improve any of these areas and how specifically might you be able to improve them?
Focus on fine tuning these areas and I can guarantee you feel like you are on the right path more than ever! Improvement comes from consistant, high quality processes! Nothing More, Nothing Less!

My wife, who has been a professional poker player for the past 4 years, has been very consistant and focused with her processes over that time, having some solid success but never being able to break through for that big win. She has her own routines and rituals, some of which I dont totally agree with, but she knows they work for her. Well, that big win finally came last week at the Melbourne Poker Champs. After finishing 2nd in the opening event for $35K, Jackstar went on to win the Main Event for $95K! This was her first big Main Event win and clarified to me, that success is knowing WHO YOU ARE and HOW YOU FUNCTION and staying committed and consistant with that process!

Jackstar with her Melbourne Champs Main Event spoils!!:)

Make the rest of 2012 about the 3 C's and I am sure you will create an unstoppable momentum like never before!!
