When I started the Mental Game training business, I read a lot of information stating that for a lot of coaches, they invest a lot of time and energy into their clients, that over time they begin to lose focus on their own goals and ambitions.
Well when I started out, I made sure this wasnt going to be the case, and believe I did a great job of keeping myself focused on my own goals, both personally and professionally.
Unfortunately, I believe the past 12-15 months I have lost a little focus and attention to detail on my own processes. So that's what I am in the process of improving for 2011 and beyond.
So the past few weeks I have been going through a personal stocktake into all aspects of my life and trying to figure out where and how I can improve my productivity and quality. I realise that over the past 2 years, and especially the last 9 months, I have become very busy with trying to work both on and in Dare2Dream, that I have found that the quality of my work, not within my business, but more my personal life in things such as fitness, or hobbies such as golf or poker, have taken a back seat.
The past 12 months has seen my poker take a back seat, which has meant that when I get a few tables of online cash up, I am more focused on relaxing. What that has meant is that I am playing to have fun and not to win!! Obviously when you are playing with that mindset you are going to be a loser at whatever stakes you play, and thats exactly what I have been,
So for me in 2011, I am going to turn myself into a winning player and have started at the 50nl and will try and work my way up from there. Obviously, playing a bunch of hands a week is something I dont have the time for, but whenever I play I am going to focus on playing great poker every session. In the past 5 days, I have been able to complete a few small sessions with 8 consecutive winning sessions since I started to play with focus and the mindset to win. Winning a little over 10Bi in the 8 small sessions has been a nice reward for the change in focus, cause we know the game doesnt always reward you when yoy are doing the right things.
I am also looking to make some changes to my fitness routine, as I have found it tough to have the motivation for the standard Gym workouts. Im never one to buy those exercise fad's they sell on the TV, but the Tower 200 was something that looked like it could work for me. My interest in Kickboxing together with the endorsement of a poker player saying it was a great workout, as well as being quick and easy, I thought it was worth the try.
So Im looking forward to receiving that and begin increasing the intensity of my training.
I am also going to try and get out on the golf course a little more this year, spending a little more time working on my own game and enjoying the beauty that a golf course provides.
I have some big plans for D2D in 2011 in regards to reaching out to a wider audience and will be creating a Mental Game Sports program in the near future to help up and coming elite athletes deal with the stress and pressure of striving to become an elite athlete. Add wanting to finish off my Mental Game poker book, I need to really increase my productivity both in work and play, and I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to make these changes.
I look forward to filling you in with my progress and I encourage everyone to go through their own personal stocktake, of how they are currently going about living their life, in every aspect and see what area's they can fine tune. It's quite an eye opener!!!!:)
A picture of me when I was focused playing poker, many more of these to come in 2011:)
