The Magic is Available To You Right Now!!

Every now and then, whether it is on the golf course, the poker tables or in life itself, we experience this moment of clarity and involvement with what we are doing RIGHT NOW, that everything else in the world seems to come to a stop. The power of being in the moment is truly one of the most magical experiences we can create as human's. I say create as you are 100% in control of whether or not your mind is absorbed with what you are doing RIGHT NOW or you are focused on the past or the future.
In both Golf & Poker, there is a massive tendency for players to have their minds wonder to both the past or the future, which dramatically interupts their ability to make the best possible decision they have in front of then RIGHT NOW!
I will go as far as saying that training your mind to be in the present, is the most powerful tool you can have in anything you are trying to achieve. One aspect I get my clients focusing on to help them stay in the present is what is simply called, DOING.
Doing is where the magic is when it comes to truly letting go and letting what you have trained come out. Doing is analysing the situation you are currently in and making the decision you need to make RIGHT NOW!

JUST DO IT!!

In both games, a lot of my clients get caught up in the training aspects of their games, with no real experience in practising the DOING phase. Being absorbed in the moment and just focus on what you need to DO, RIGHT NOW,  is where you begin to see things that you normally let float by, and this is where you can seperate yourself from being an ordinary player to a player that is at the top of their game a high percentage of the time.
One of the most damaging emotional states we experience is doubt/fear. Doubt and Fear is brought about by your mind wondering into the future, questioning what might be or your mind focusing on the past, what might have been. When we train our minds to stay in the present, focusing only on what you have to DO, RIGHT NOW, you eliminate both of these emotions from ever getting in the way of the quality of your process.

Sounds Simple Doesnt It!!!

Well, the short answer is- It Is. The long answer is that life itself has trained you for many years to have your mind focused on something other than what you are doing RIGHT NOW. Society and the environment that we live in today, is taking over the control we have of our mind's by asking our minds to be focused on many different aspects at any one moment.
When you ate breakfast this morning, can you recall what it tasted like, what it felt like in your mouth? When you kissed your loved one's goodbye, can you recall feeling the love you have for them or was your mind focused on something that you needed to do during the day?
A saying I have tried to follow over the past 10 years is- Plan Your Work & Work Your Plan. Understanding what needs to be done, then focusing on DOING what you need to DO, RIGHT NOW to help you achieve success. What we perceive as daily mundane tasks, can become useful ways of being able to train your mind to stay in the present and focus only on what you need to DO, RIGHT NOW.
So brushing your teeth, driving your car, eating a meal or having a general conversation with someone about nothing, are great opportunities to train your mind to get involved with the present and I can assure you, this will help the quality of your performance RIGHT NOW!
My challenge to you for 1 day, is to try and keep your mind absorbed with what you are doing RIGHT NOW. It will be an extremely challenging task, but if you can begin to remind your brain, to stay attached to the Here & Now, it will become stronger over time and help you to experience the Magic on a more consistant basis.
